ROHA:Three youths have been arrested for strangulating Charkop resident Sanjay Chavan (33) in a car in Wadala.
Chavan and the main accused, Pravin M Thakur (35) were in the business of selling SRA flats. The police said that a tiff over sharing commission resulted in Chavan’s murder. Thakur’s two accomplices—Navi Hussain Shaikh (22) and Venkatesh Singaram (25)—are Wadala residents.
“On January 17, the trio gave Chavan tea laced with sleep-inducing pills. After Chavan fell asleep, they took him to a parked car in Wadala and strangulated him using a rope. A missing complaint was lodged by a relative of Chavan at the Charkop police station.
On January 18, his body was found on the railway tracks near Roha station. Am RPF constable noticed the body and informed us,” said an officer.
“Based on the call detail records of Chavan, we traced the accused. We have seized the car and arrested the trio. The accused had disposed of the body on the railway tracks near Roha,” added the officer.
