The Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has introduced new topics in the professional studies subject being taught from class 9 to 12.

Allahabad : The Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has introduced new topics in the professional studies subject being taught from class 9 to 12. Among the new topics are functional English and IT-enabled services (ITeS); topics meant to help students belonging to the Hindi belt converse in English and make them tech-savvy. It would come into effect from 2016-17.
The NASSCOM-associated ITES Sector Skill Council (ITESSSC) would also grant a certificate to the students after successful completion of trade-based courses.

The syllabus has been drawn by eight professional who are experts in different subjects or vocational training, including those from PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal.
Subject experts claim that after completion of the Englsih syllabus, students would be able to converse in the language.
Similarly, those opting for ITeS, would be make aware of the latest technology so as to make them proficient in the use of IT-based technology.
UP Board secretary Shail Yadav said, "This year, the syllabi of class 9 and 10, along with that of 11 and 12, have been separated for High School and Intermediate."
As per the revised syllabus, the teaching and training methodology involves interactive lecture sessions and class room activities involving role play so as to remove hesitation in students.

In role play activities, students would be learning how to start a conversation with someone known to them or a rank stranger.
In the IT-related syllabus, students would be taught the basic nuances of hardware and software at preliminary stage to use of IT enabled services in corporate and public sector sector.
The revised syllabus has been uploaded in the official website of the UP Board, said secretary, UP Board. The books are expected to be in market by May this year.
