The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the BJP trade charges against each other in Chopta block of the district where Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala’s son Karan Singh Chautala is locked in a fierce battle against BJP’s Eklavya Beniwal.

Besides Abhay, Hisar MP Dushyant Singh Chautala and Sirsa MLA Makhan Lal Singla addressed meetings for Karan while state BJP president Subhash Barala and Abhay’s cousin Aditya Chautala campaigned for Eklavya on the concluding day of the campaign for the panchayat elections today.

“The BJP has been discriminating against Sirsa district,” alleged Abhay. He alleged that the BJP had come to power on a plethora of promises, but had failed to honour even one of them.

He said the BJP promised implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission report to improve the lot of farmers, but nothing had been done.

“BJP leaders merely believed in making big speeches. Development is not their cup of tea,” he alleged.

Addressing a series of meetings for his cousin, the Hisar MP alleged that ever since the BJP had come to power, the plight of farmers had gone from bad to worse.

“Beware of those who believe in grabbing your votes by wearing masks on their faces,” said Dushyant.

Addressing village meetings for Eklavya, the state BJP president hit out at the Chautalas and claimed that ever since the BJP had come to power, it had ended the practice of regional bias in the matter of development.

He said the corruption that prevailed in the state during the Congress and the INLD regime, was being rooted out by the present BJP government.

Terming the BJP government as the true friend of farmers, Barala said the Manohar Lal government was the first in the history to have released compensation for farmers within days of ‘girdawari’.

He urged people to vote for the BJP candidates to ensure their development.
