Mumbai: The dream of flying in an airplane landed a 20-year-old in jail. Monu Das, a salesman by profession, who stole Rs 2.38 lakhs to fulfil his dream of flying in an airplane was arrested by the Parksite police in Vikhroli on Thursday.
Four days ago, New look wine shop owner in Vikhroli had filed a complaint that one of his servants had fled with cash.
The Parksite Police launched a manhunt and also went to Das's native place to nab him. But that is where another trouble started.
When the Parksite Police landed in Dova village in Jharkhand district to arrest Das, they were shocked to learn that it was a Naxal-affected area. But the Parksite police were lucky to get his custody before the Naxals.
During interrogations, Das told police that he had come to Mumbai from Dova village around six months ago and had started working in the wine shop. All the four servants used to stay in the back of the shop. One of his colleagues had told him that he once took a flight to go to his village and since than Das had the fantasy of flying.

And from Ranchi he hired an air conditioned taxi to reach his village,'' said Rajendra Kulkarni, senior inspector at Parksite. Kulkarni said that the police have recovered Rs 1.06 lakhs from Das rest he had Rs 1.06 lakhs from Das rest he had spent on his lavish living.
