Guwahati: The Gauhati high court asked police to submit the case diary of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Bikash Baruah, banned for life for alleged corruption, by February 8. The HC was responding to an anticipatory bail plea by Baruah.
Additional public prosecutor Bhim Sinha said, "The HC, while granting him interim bail, directed Paltan Bazaar Police to file the case diary by February 8."Former Assam cricketers registered a case against Baruah for allegedly not releasing the pay-cheques and certificates of current players.
Altogether 61 cheques and many certificates were 'intentionally misplaced' by Baruah, they said and added that the documents were found in his drawer in December last year, prompting ACA to slap a life ban on him.
Baruah was involved in a major controversy three years ago after he allegedly morphed a photograph of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Sourav Ganguly, replacing the latter's face with his own. The then ACA secretary distributed the pictures to the media and said he had the actors' support to form an IPL team in the northeast.
