MANDSAUR (MP): An eight-year-old son of a labourer has emerged as a kind of hero in his locality here for getting his gambler father
arrested for his habit, police said today.
While the courage shown by
Aamir Shoaib, a student of class III in a government primary school, not only led police to bust a
gambling den, but it has also won him accolades, besides a reward of Rs 1,000 from police.
Aamir first told his father that indulging in gambling was a crime but the latter refused to listen, prompting the child to approach the police and seek help, they said.
"The kid complained to police on January 3, after failing to persuade his father Aqueel to give up the habit, that his father and others are indulged in gambling and that Aqueel did not stop even when he asked him to do so," YD Nagar police station in-charge, Kishore Patanwala told .
The police raided the place and arrested gamblers, including Aqueel, and seized Rs 1,800 in cash from them, he said.
Before kudos came his way, Aamir received a beating from his mother, Zahida, for complaining to police.
However, she realised her mistake when Aamir was showered with praise for his act from various quarters and was given Rs 1,000 as a reward by the station in-charge.
Impressed by Aamir's courage, his school principal Surendra Dabkara said, "We are proud of Aamir Shoaib and will honour him on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26".

Shivraj Singh Chouhan so that Aamir is honoured for showing exemplary courage against the evil practice.
