Mastizaade's Shaad Randhawa reveals his diet and fitness secrets
Key Highlights
• Shaad Randhawa shares his daily diet
• He talks about his trainer and how they trained him for his role in Mastizaade
From Woh Lamhe to Mastizaade, Shaad Randhawa has come a long way and has played almost all types of roles on the big screen. Last he was seen as a CBI officer in Ek Villain and will be seen as an aspiring army officer in his next Mastizaade. After having heard that he was being trained by none other than the couple Karuna and Rahul Waghmare, we sure wanted to know about the fitness circuit he was up to.
Let's hear it straight from Shaad himself.
From the first time we saw you in Woh Lamhe (2006) to today, you seem to be reverse ageing. What's the secret?
To be honest there is no secret at all. I am a straight forward guy and I am quite dedicated to exercising and diet control. I follow my trainers religiously and eat what they tell me. For my role in Mastizaade, I was put on a strict protein diet as the character I was playing needed to look tough, someone Tusshar and Vir were intimidated of.
Born to a wrestler dad and a wrestler uncle (Dara Singh) would have had its perks and lows? Overall how do you think it has helped you in being what you are today?
My father and uncle were always there to guide all the kids in the family. We were given advice on exercises and diets. But they never liked us having soft drinks and eating food that was not cooked at home. We sneaked food sometimes but their guidance is something that helped all of us to be fit always. Also, I used to smoke earlier but now I have quit.
How do you fit workout sessions in your work schedule?
It gets tough at times but working out is something that I would never miss in my life. My trainer Rahul was always there with me while we were shooting for Mastizaade. All my co-stars Sunny, Tusshar and Vir are fitness lovers. I still remember we were shooting for 12 hours everyday while in Pattaya but we used to head to the gym as soon as we returned to the hotel. In fact, seeing Sunny Leone, Tusshar and Vir work out was enough a reason for me to stay motivated.

Tell us about your trainers? Are they tough?
Karuna has been a body builder and world champion two times, currently she is into coaching as well. Her husband Rahul is always by her side and trust me they both are fun to be with. But as soon as they wear trainer shoes, their personality changes altogether. They get strict but the only reason I am back in shape is because of them.
Who in Bollywood according to you is the fittest?
No doubt Akshay Kumar! I think the guy takes fitness as a religion. I am sure no one can match his fitness level in the industry today.
Who do you idolize in terms of appearance?
Well, that's an easy one, Hritik Roshan.
Any specialized diets that you were put on for the role?
I was out of shape for a while so I was put on a strict protein diet. Loads of gym training mixed with cardio helped me get the shape just perfect for the role.
