Mohammad Azharuddin: Mohammad Azharuddin, the former India captain and one of world cricket’s finest batsmen, was banned from the sport in 2000 for life for his involvement with bookmakers and allegedly providing information to bookies and introducing Hansie Cronje to betting.
Ajay Sharma: In 2000, Ajay Sharma’s career ended when he received a life ban from cricket after he was implicated in a match-fixing scandal. In September 2014, however, Sharma was cleared from all charges related to match-fixing by Delhi district court. The court further directed BCCI to allow him to take part in the board’s activities and those of its associates.
Manoj Prabhakar: In 1999, Prabhakar participated in Tehelka’s expose of match-fixing, but was himself charged of involvement and subsequently banned by the BCCI from playing cricket. He was dismissed from his coaching role with the Delhi cricket team in 2011 after he publicly criticized the players and selectors.
Ajay Jadeja: Ajay Jadeja was banned following match fixing allegations on him along with 4 other Indian cricketers in 1999. The ban was later quashed by the Delhi High Court on 27 January 2003, making Jadeja eligible to play domestic and international cricket. He was most remembered for his aggressive stroke play, and sharp work in the field.
S Sreesanth: Sreesanth who played 27 Tests and 53 ODIs for India was arrested on 16 May 2013 for allegedly accepting money from bookies to underperform, but was released on bail a month later. In September 2013, he was banned for life from playing cricket by the BCCI.
