Notice to hotel in fire case

After the death of two people following a fire at The Grand Bhagwati (TGB) hotel on SG Road on Saturday afternoon, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) served a notice to the hotel on Tuesday.

Ahmedabad: After the death of two people following a fire at The Grand Bhagwati (TGB) hotel on SG Road on Saturday afternoon, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) served a notice to the hotel on Tuesday.
M F Dastoor, chief fire officer, AFES, told TOI that the permission for the building included stoves separated from the gas cylinders and pipeline.
“The specified arrangement was there at the kitchen along with the fire safety device as prescribed.
What however caused the fire were cylinders kept under a shed in an open space outside the kitchen which was not according to the permission. The notice is served so as to make adequate arrangements so that such fire accidents don't take place again,“ he said. On Monday , two of the fire's victims -30-year-old Shuddhodhan Survade and 45-year-old Naimish Pandya, both residents of Thaltej -died at a private hospital during treatment. Both had sustained over 80% burns and were in the ICU. A total of eight persons were reported injured, of which only one is now is under treatment.
