NOIDA: If you are planning to buy a commercial vehicle, you will now first have to submit an affidavit to the transport department declaring that you have a parking space for it. Officials will inspect the parking space in case of those coming for registration or fitness certificate for two or more vehicles. The move aims to ensure that owners don't park their commercial vehicles at public places.
Noida registers 3,500-4,000 vehicles every month and has a total of around 4.5 lakh commercial and private vehicles. The Allahabad HC on January 8 had asked the Noida Authority to act against the city's parking mafia.
Owners of commercial vehicles will have to submit the affidavit for registration of new vehicles and also those who want fitness certificate for old vehicles. Rachna Yaduvanshi, ARTO (administration) Noida, said the department has received a letter from the headquarters in Lucknow to ensure commercial vehicle owners have adequate parking space. "Owners usually park commercial vehicles at public places, often constricting roads leading to traffic jams. We will ask them to submit the affidavit at the time new vehicle registration. Old vehicle owners will also have to submit the affidavit to get fitness certificate," Yaduvanshi said.
The officials said most transporters don't have parking space for their vehicles and they park them on roadsides. "The Authority has proposed Transport Nagar in Sector 69. We have applied for plots there and we will park vehicles on the designated space once its allotted," said Chaudhury Vedpal Singh, president, Noida Transport Association.
The Authority will allot 500 plots in Transport Nagar and allotments are likely to begin by the month-end.
