Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday renewed his attack on Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) alleging that prime lands were allotted to the sports body in violation of rules.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday renewed his attack on Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) alleging that prime lands were allotted to the sports body in violation of rules.

Addressing a public meeting in Rait of Shahpur assembly segment in Kangra district, Virbharda said, “HPCA, headed by former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s son Anurag Thakur, has acquired lands across the state through illegal means and when I tried to dig up the irregularities, a slender campaign was started against me.”

Maintaining that he was not against any sport, Virbhadra said, “If the HPCA mends its way of functioning, he has no problem with the sports body.”

He said, “The HPCA was first registered as a society at Kanpur; acquired land in Himachal and then converted into a company without prior information at Chandigarh.”

“It is still headquartered at Jalandhar. If they comeback to Himachal, improve its membership system and hold proper elections, I have no problem,” Virbhadra added.

Virbhadra said, “Dhumal family has some problem with me due cricket only.”

Taking on Union minister Arun Jaitely, the CM said, “It seems cricket has become a game of scams, and like HPCA other associations too are marred by corruption.”

“Arun Jaitley, who orchestrated CBI raids against me, is now himself in the soup over allegations of corruption in DDCA levelled by his own party man Kirti Azad,” the CM said.

Virbhadra also accused Dhumal of implicating him in false criminal cases during his two tenures as chief minister.
