IPL spot-fixing scandal: Ajit Chandila gets life ban, Hiken Shah banned for 5 years

New Delhi: Announcing their final verdict on IPL spot-fixing scandal, Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) disciplinary committee on Monday imposed life ban on Ajit Chandila, while Hiken Shah was slapped with a five-year ban.

 

The three-member panel, headed by BCCI president Shashank Manohar, also comprising Jyotiraditya Scindia and Niranjan Shah, announced their final verdict today.

 

The tainted duo appeared in person before the Committee on December 24 last and were given time till January 4 to file a written response to the charges against them.

They met again on January 5 when Shah appeared in person, made an oral submission and a written reply to the findings of the enquiry against him.

 

Chandila was arrested by the police for trying to spot-fix IPL games in 2013 along with his then Rajasthan Royals teammates S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan who have been banned for life by the BCCI.

Shah, a Mumbai Ranji Trophy cricketer, was punished for breaching the Board's anti-corruption code ahead of IPL 2015.
