Woman duped

January 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 23, 2016 01:05 am IST - MADURAI:

A 60-year-old woman was duped of six sovereigns of gold at S. S. Colony on Sunday.

M. Dhanu of Jawahar Fourth Street was walking along the road around 10.30 a.m. when two persons approached her. Claiming themselves to be police personnel, the duo cautioned the woman against wearing gold jewels “as trouble was brewing in the neighbourhood.”

Even as the woman was hesitant, one of them made her remove her gold chain and gold ring. He pretended as if wrapping it in a piece of paper and handed it over to her.

On reaching home, the woman realised that she was duped.
