SHIVAMOGGA: Supporters of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday tried to attack founder of Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) Padmanabha Prasanna, protesting against his claim of having some documents which could get Yeddyurappa imprisoned again and others which reveal personal information about him.
Police intervened to stop the supporters from manhandling Prasanna, who had called a press conference to give details about the issue.
Soon after the incident, Prasanna called up home minister G Parameshwara to apprise him about the incident.
Prasanna's KJP was taken over by Yeddyurappa when he resigned from the BJP and fielded candidates under the new outfit in the 2013 assembly elections. However, in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Yeddyurappa disbanded the KJP and rejoined the BJP.
At the news conference, Prasanna demanded that seven corporators elected on KJP's coconut symbol should resign their membership. He also claimed to have some information regarding Yeddyurappa and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje.
After the press conference, Ballakere Santosh, a supporter of Yeddyurappa and husband of BJP corporator Archana Ballakere, started speaking to Prasanna loudly. Santosh took exception to Prasanna's personal statements about Yeddyurappa. A rattled Prasanna called the police and sought security.
