AHMEDABAD: In the last 10 days in Banaskantha police came across two incidents of dead fetuses being dumped along roadside in Palanpur and Deesa talukas in Gujarat. The incidents have led the police to now visit every gynecologists in nearby talukas to note the abortions carried out in maternity homes.
On Thursday the police was informed of a seven month old dead girl child fetus in Ranpur village in Deesa town.
The fetus was recovered around late afternoon along a roadside. In the second incident seven days earlier the Palanpur police recovered the fetus of a male child from Koji area. Both these bodies were sent for postmortem, the reports will be submitted to Banaskantha police on Saturday. "We are trying to ascertain the maternity homes where these two abortions were carried out. We are also trying to find out if there are other reasons for such incidents," says a senior official of Deesa police.
