New Delhi: Actor Ali Asgar, who played ‘Dadi' in Comedy Night With Kapil, on Thursday approached the Mumbai High Court to seek anticipatory bail.

This step by him was taken after his co-actor Kiku Sharda was arrested on Wednesday in a case of hurting religious sentiments of the followers of spiritual leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

A case has also been registered against Ali on similar grounds. He was the host of the show where the act was presented which offended the followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief.

Palak aka Kiku Sharda was accused by sect follower Uday Singh of dressing up like Gurmeet Ram Rahim and mimicking the self-proclaimed godman.

Kiku was arrested yesterday by the Haryana police and sent to 14 days of judicial custody. In the evening, the Kaithal court granted him bail on a surety bond of Rs.1 lakh. Post his release, he was detained again; this time from Fatehabad district (near Hisar), for the same offence.

He is likely to be presented before a Fatehabad court on Thursday.

As a precautionary step, Ali has seeked court's shelter as he might be arrested any time soon. Renowned lawyer Shyam Keswani is fighting his case.
