Palanpur: Patan police foiled a robbery bid and arrested five persons near Bagdod bridge in the town late on Tuesday night.
The five hardened criminals were planning a robbery at Patan-based Babulal & Co, an angadiya firm. Police also recovered lethal arms including a country-made pistol and 13 live cartridges from them and seized their car and a bike.
Three people - Rajeshkumar Panchal of Chhatral village near Deesa, Ramjivan Pal, a native of Uttar Pradesh and Shoaib Khan Pathan of Panthoda village near Kadi were arrested on Tuesday night. Two others, Aabid Khan Pathan and Tahir Khan Malek, both from Kalana village near Sanand, were arrested on Wednesday. Patan district superintendent of police (DSP) Ashwin Chauhan said, "We found 13 cartridges and a pistol from Abidkhan Pathan, who had jumped parole in the sensational double murder and Rs 45 lakh Morbi loot cases." tnn
