PATNA: Bihar governor and the chancellor of universities Ram Nath Kovind on wednesday appointed the vice chancellors of both the agriculture universities in the state – Bihar Agricultural
University (
BAU), Sabour and Rajendra Agriculture University (
RAU), Pusa, Samastipur.
Exercising his powers conferred on him under BAU Act, 2010 and BAU Act, 1987, Kovind has named Ramesh Chandra Shrivastav, principal scientist, ICAR-Indian institute of Water Management, Bhubaneshwar, as the
vice chancellor of RAU, Pusa, Samastipur.
He also appointed Ajay Kumar Singh, director ICAR, Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, as the vice chancellor of BAU, Sabour.
BAU Sabour’s vice chancellor’s post fell vacant when M L Choudhary contested the 2015 Vidhan Sabha polls on a JD (U) ticket from Tarapur and defeated popular Keori leader and HAM-S candidate Shakuni Choudhary by over 10,000 votes.
The governor interacted with all the candidates empanelled by the search committees of the respective agriculture varsities on Wednesday and declared the final names by Wednesday evening itself.
