Peaceniks launch calendar

Aaghaz-e-Dosti, a cross-border joint friendship initiative, launched its 4th Indo-Pak Peace Calendar on Tuesday. Founder of Aaghaz-e-Dosti Ravi Nitesh told TOI on Tuesday that the launch in India was organized at Islamic Cultural Centre in Delhi and attended by 350 persons.

AMRITSAR: Aaghaz-e-Dosti, a cross-border joint friendship initiative, launched its 4th Indo-Pak Peace Calendar on Tuesday. Founder of Aaghaz-e-Dosti Ravi Nitesh told TOI on Tuesday that the launch in India was organized at Islamic Cultural Centre in Delhi and attended by 350 persons.
He said people from all walks of life participated. In addition, students from New Delhi, Bulandshahr and Mumbai, whose paintings were selected for the calendar, had come to attend the launch ceremony.
He said they launch a peace calendar in India and Pakistan every year. The calendar included selected paintings of students from India and Pakistan.
"The launch was followed by a seminar on 'sharing of hopes for a peaceful and friendly co-existence'. This calendar also includes messages from renowned personalities working for peace in both countries," he said.
He said this year they had got tremendous participation in their competition for paintings from youths of both countries. "From Pakistan, we received paintings from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Toba Tek Singh district. From India, we received paintings from Vadodara, Bulandshahr, Dehradun, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Mumbai," said Nitesh said.
Along with the launch and seminar on Indo-Pak peace, there was special screening of Ketan Mehta's movie 'Toba Tek Singh', starring Pankaj Kapoor.
The film is based on Saadat Hasan Manto's famous story. In Pakistan, the calendar would be launched at Lahore on January 23 and in Islamabad on January 28.
