Bhopal: Two ophthalmologists from Gwalior on Tuesday carried out eye check-up of 23 villagers who had undergone cataract surgery at an eye camp in Sheopur on November 27 last year.
Following the complaint of blurred vision and blindness by 17 villagers on Monday, the health department ordered check-up of all the 66 patients who were operated upon in the camp.
A government spokesman later said the chief medical and health officer hoped that all patients will recover fully. “On Tuesday, the eye patients were asked to count fingers. They gave correct answers in finger count. No other health problem was found in the patients except slight diminishing of vision,” the spokesman said. However, many villagers including Ramnathi Bai, Kailashi Bai, Ramkanya and Mathuralal complained of “blurred vision”.
Quoting Sheopur chief medical and health officer Dr Pradeep Mishra, government spokesman also said, “Operations were conducted by ophthalmologists Dr Rakesh Gupta and Dr Nirmala Chhatrashali. They also carried out the eye check up on Tuesday.”
