JAMMU, Jan 12: A housewife today committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Rajpura area of city outskirts while a minor girl made an abortive attempt by resorting to same modus operandi.
According to a police spokesperson, Monika Gupta (30) wife of Rajesh Gupta, a resident of Qasim Nagar, presently living in a rented accommodation at Rajpura Mangotrian falling under the limits of police station Bakshi Nagar, was found hanging this afternoon at her temporary residence.
He said the deceased used her scarf to hang self with the hook of the ceiling fan. Quoting the neighbours of the deceased, the spokesperson said that the deceased had strained relations with her husband for quite some time. “The body has been handed over to the family after legal formalities while a case has been registered for further investigations”, he added.
In Nanak Nagar area, a 15-year-old girl identified as Varsha Gupta daughter of Umesh Gupta tried to end her life by hanging self at her residence but the incident was timely noticed by the family members, who rushed her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where her condition was stated to be stable. The concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter.
