Gurgoan: Concerned over the alarming levels of pollution and traffic congestion in the city, Huda has decided to speed up the development of the existing Transport Nagar in Sector 33. Even after 15 years of existence, Transport Nagar is still deprived of basic amenities like water and toilets, forcing transporters to park their vehicles at different places across the city, causing congestion.
Huda administrator Hardeep Singh has directed officials to prepare the Transport Nagar's development plan within a week. "The development of Transport Nagar is likely to reduce congestion on city roads and curb pollution," said an official of Huda.
He added, "Gurgaon is at the bottom of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan rankings of the cleanest (and dirtiest) towns and cities in India. Providing civic amenities at Transport Nagar can also help in improving Swachh Bharat ranking of the city."
Around 70 acres of land was acquired for development of Transport Nagar around 15 years back, out of which nearly 30 acres are under litigation, and large- scale encroachment has taken place on the portion of the remaining land.
The administrator has directed estate officers to prepare details of land under litigation, encroachment and land free from litigation. "Estate officers have been directed to remove the encroachment and construct boundary wall to prevent further encroachment," said a senior Huda official, adding the estimate for water supply, sewer line and storm waterline will be prepared in a week's time.
The president of Automobile Carrier Welfare Association, Ashwani Sharma, said till the development of civic amenities, arrangements should be made for temporary toilets. He said the development of Transport Nagar will help in solving some of the city's problems.
The state government is coming up with another transport hub on Dwarka expressway. It will give direct connectivity to commercial vehicles travelling on Delhi-Japiur route to Dwarka expressway, central peripheral road (CPR) and NH-8.
