NAGPUR: Last year's runner-up Sachin Yelbhar was knocked out in the very first round on the second day of the Maharashtra Kesri Wrestling Championship at the Chitnis Park, Mahal, here on Friday.
In the opening round of the 125-kg category, Pune's Yelbhar faced shocking defeat at the hands of Gokul Aware of Beed to create first big upset of the meet.
Reigning Maharashtra Kesri Vijay Chaudhari, Rahul Khanekar and Sachin Mohol registered fluent wins over their respective rivals to enter the pre-quarterfinals.

Besides Yelbhar, other fancied wrestlers like Vijay Ghutal, Sangram Pol, Sagar Birajdar, Atul Patil, Kaustubh Dafale, Ravindra Gaikwad, Samir Desai, Sainath Ranavade, Sachin Jamdar and Annasaheb Kolekar also crashed out in their respective categories.
In the 74-kg section, Ahmednagar's Keval Bhingare needed just 50 seconds to demolish Nitin Bhagat of Solapur to grab gold medal.
Kolhapur's Sopan Gongane outclassed Suraj Kokate of Pune 12-4 to win the final of the 61-kg group. Pune's Tukaram Shitole and Bapu Jare of Beed claimed bronze medals.
Solapur's Vasant Sarode downed Vishnu Bhosle of Latur 8-4 to clinch gold in the 65-kg category. Bronze medals were pocketed by Kiran Mane of Solapur and Kolhapur's Ram Kamble.
