Salman Khan's marriage not a woman empowerment issue: Nagma
Senior Congress leader and film actor Nagma on Friday said Bollywood superstar Salman Khans marriage is not an issue of women empowerment.
If Salman Khan is not marrying, it is his personal decision and purely a personal matter. The issue is not related to empowerment of women. I have come to Bihar to discuss issues pertaining to empowerment of women in panchayat elections and Salmans marriage is no way a case of woman empowerment, she told reporters at Bihar Congress headquarters Sadaqat Ashram here.
Nagma, who is on a three-day tour to Bihar since January 6, was responding to a scribe who wanted to know if the Telugu and Tamil movies actress would like to suggest Salman to get married soon because he has now turned 50. She, however, avoided a direct reply when asked whether she supports the centres move to hire mega star Amitabh Bachchan to replace Aamir Khan as brand ambassador for Incredible India?

Nagma (41), who was made general secretary of All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) three months back, also refused to admit any deterioration in law and order in Bihar in recent months. It might be perception of a few people. But I strongly believe that there is no shortcoming in Bihars law and order in Nitish regime. I have been interacting with women here for the last three days. No women complained to me that she fears coming out on the streets at Patna or any other place in the state, she said.

Flanked by Bihar Pradesh Mahila Congress (BPMC) chief Amita Bhushan and Congress MLA Poonam Paswan, Nagma asked the mediapersons to also inform people about the crime scenario prevailing in the BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Haryana where crime rate was much higher than Bihar. Nagma, who is the AIMCs In-charge for Bihar affairs, said Bihar is the first state which provided 50% reservation to women in Panchayat election.
She also slammed PM Narendra Modi for his sudden Pakistan visit and alleged mishandling of the case pertaining to terror attack on Pathankot airforce base. When Indian soldiers were beheaded by terrorist during the UPA regime, Modi used to say he will give befitting reply to Pakistan. But now he went Lahore without any formal invitation, she said.
Recalling union minister Giriraj Singhs controversial statement that all those who oppose Modi should go to Pakistan, Nagma said, What suggestion Giriraj Singh will now give to his PM. His PM himself went to Pakistan.
