After making waves with the song “Ebenezer”, Rev Togarepi Chivaviro is set to release another album titled “Mhepo Inoperekedza” “Tiri Munyasha Part 2”. The album, which will test Rev Chivaviro’s staying power in the music industry, is set to be launched in Harare on March 1.

Rev Chivaviro said he has done his homework and is optimistic that the album will make waves.

“We will not compare the two albums but what I can say is we have done the ground work,” he said.

The musician said though they have made great achievements with “Ebenezer”, they were optimistic that the new album will bring more glory.

“With the previous nine albums we only got award nominations twice with the biggest being in South Africa, but what ‘Ebenezer’ has done to us is amazing. It has set a high bar and we have to maintain that standard,” he said.

He got several awards for “Ebenezer” and also embarked on various international tours.

“We hope this album will do the same. We have done our home work on the album and it does not carry any hymns like the previous releases,” he said.

He wishes to have an album that has several songs loved by people.

“I have seen that on this album ‘Ebenezer’ became the darling of many but now we are happy that this coming album might give a different dimension,” he said.

In the past gospel music struggled to get recognition in recording studios and public places.

The genre struggled to penetrate the mainstream arena, but with the help of gospel greats like Jordan Chataika, Machanic Manyeruke, Freedom Sengwayo, Brian Sibalo and The Family Singers, among other yesteryear musicians, the genre managed to break through.

The musician who is based in South Africa is a happy man after the song topped Star FM gospel greats and got third position on Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola top 50. It was also on top position at other stations.
