Boyfriend gets police clean chit over girl's suicide

Ahmedabad: The city crime branch has given a clean chit to a youth from Gaekwad Haveli area, Faisal Siddiqi in connection with charges of abetment after his 17-year-old girlfriend committed suicide by jumping into the Sabarmati in October.
The father of the deceased girl lodged an FIR claiming Siddiqi shamed the girl by posting objectionable photographs of him and the girl on Facebook and this led the teenager to end her life.
After investigation, the crime branch's Cyber Cell has filed a closure report in a metropolitan court by proposing `C' summary claiming that the girl's father filed the complaint due to a “misconception“.
A closure report by ACP J D Jadeja claimed that the objectionable images of the girl with her boyfriend were posted by the girl herself from her mobile phone. The probe revealed that the boy did not have an FB account. The investigator claimed that the girl committed suicide after a quarrel with the boy.
