Bardhan commemorative meeting on January 7

January 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 22, 2016 10:24 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Communist Party of India (CPI) will organise a commemorative meeting on late CPI leader A.B. Bardhan at Dasari Nagabhushana Rao building here on January 7 at 5 p.m.

CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna said Mr. Bardhan was a widely respected politician, and his influence extended beyond the electoral strength and geographical spread of the CPI, which he steered through highs and lows during the challenging era of coalition politics in the last two decades.

“Mr. Bardhan was the CPI’s general secretary for 16 years from 1996. He was against ideological deviations among party workers and leaders. On tactics, Bardhan at times showed flexibility. The meeting is being organised to recollect and remember his services. CPI national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy will address the gathering,” he said.
