Variety of weaves for Sankranti shoppers

With Sankranti round the corner, shoppers plan to spruce up their wardrobe with a dash of silk and handloom fabrics.

Cashing in on this season, weavers and designers have descended on the city with a spectrum of weaves in varied shades.

Venue

At the two-day Styles and Weaves Exhibition that began on Tuesday, a wide range of designer saris, kurtis, home decors, accessories, and one-gram gold jewellery, trinket jewellery made of silk threads line up across 44 stalls put up for the purpose. The saris here come in organza-silk bordered with machine embroidery, Banaras-dupion silk, Tussar silk, silk-cotton, and many more.

Supernet designer lehengas embellished with contrast raw-silk and lehengas with intricate sequins, kalamkari readymade blouses and full-length gowns form a part of the fair that will be open on Wednesday at Hotel Novotel between 10.30 a.m. and 8.30 p.m.

Pochampally products

An array of newer versions of Ikat tie-dye saris, handloom dupattas, shirts and kurtas, bed linen, and handbags greet visitors at Pochampally Ikat Art Mela that got under way at Lions Club.

The eight-day handloom exhibition brings out a collection of silken weaves with quality assurance label.

Pochampally saris in a variety of contrast shades and fresh designs, Ikat sari with Uppada border, and handloom saris with 100-count cotton yarn have been stacked on the shelves.

A discount of 15-20 per cent on silk saris and 10 per cent on cotton saris can be availed here.

The exhibition will be on till January 12 from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
