South West appointments round-up

A round-up of appointments from across the South West. This week: We are Cornwall, YTL Land and Property UK, BMT Isis and more.

Former Taylor Wimpey board member and government adviser Peter Andrew (pictured) has joined We are Cornwall as a non-executive director. He was previously land and planning director for the national housebuilder and one of four practitioners involved in the drafting of the National Planning Policy Framework for then planning minister Greg Clarke. 

Developer YTL Land and Property UK has announced that Paul Cooper will be joining the business as the new managing director. The company is part of the Malaysian based YTL Group which already has significant investments in the UK, including Wessex Water, Thermae Bath Spa and the recently opened Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel. 

BMT Isis, a subsidiary of maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group, has appointed Barry Flower as marketing and sales director. He has 25 years of experience in the defence and government sectors working with organisations including the UK Ministry of Defence.

Construction company Beard has appointed chartered surveyor Mike Hedges to head up its new Bristol office based in Westbury-on-Trym. He joins the £108m annual turnover company as Bristol construction director from Wates Construction where he was construction manager for the South West.

Michelmores has announced the appointment of senior associate Emma Rudge at the Bristol office.  The appointment follows a period of growth for the law firm's Bristol office with staff numbers tripling over the last three years.

Harrison Clark Rickerbys in Cheltenham has promoted corporate lawyer Chris Cook. He has led on and been involved in significant deals this year, including acting for management on the partial exit of a well-known coffee house chain, acting for shareholders on a £10m disposal of an elevators business to an American acquirer, and acting for GIL Investments on its £10m buyout of Ashworths from Jewson Building Products.

Exeter-based PR consultancy Glen King PR has brought in David Greensmith as business development director. It follows the expansion of the team and a move to a larger city-centre office in the summer of 2015 as the company celebrated its tenth anniversary.
