Durrani clamours for Bahawalpur restoration

BAHAWALPUR

A former federal minister and senator has said that the restoration of Bahawalpur as province is the right of the people as they have been faced with issues of injustice and oppression for the last 45 years.
“For the protection of our rights, we have come into the ground and on the issued, no compromise will be made,” Muhammad Ali Durrani said while addressing a meeting held in respect with Bahawalpur Province restoration.
He said that he had come there five years ago for the movement of restoration of Bahawalpur. “Now I have permanently come to Bahawalpur to continue to live among my own people. It is my duty to the land of Bahawalpur that rights of people of Bahawalpur be given to them and in doing so no power can discourage me,” he said.
He further said that Bahawalpur Restoration Movement will now be made the centre of politics. Turncoat politicians will not be allowed to enter the movement for Bahawalpur province restoration, he said. He added that restoration campaign will be made organised on public level and in all the three districts of Bahawalpur offices will be established so that people might be guided correctly by letting them know about the ground realities. He added that people should enthusiastically become part of Bahawalpur Restoration Movement for better education, employment and health facilities along with other basic necessities.
He said that before the General Elections of 2013, certain politicians of Bahawalpur made a deal against the movement for their vested interests and now people of the area have known such politicians.
Politician Malik Habibullah Bhutta said that politics was not a business. He said that in 1970, he had left his political party and till this day he was standing strong on his decision for the sake of restoration movement.
Hundreds of suspects held in crackdown: Police conducted a crackdown on drug dealers and brothels during the last two months, and arrested hundreds of accused involved in the crimes.
During the crackdown in the precincts of Saddar Police Station Bahawalpur, the CIA conducted raids on 5 brothels and arrested 38 women and 8 men. Likewise, police recovered heroin, 4kg Hashish and cash attained by selling drugs worth 132,000 and arrested the “criminals”.
Civil Lines Police Station raided 4 brothels and arrested 16 women and 10 men. It also recovered 230 bottles of imported liquor, 80 liters of local liquor and arrested the suspects. In Khairpur police recovered 1.56kg Charas, seized furnace and equipment. Police said no accused involved in the business of brothels and drugs will be allowed to roam and poison the society.
