Garbage set on fire near Osmania General Hospital

The open area outside the old OGH building were cleaned up between 11.30 am and 1 pm.
Hyderabad: Over 200 released prisoners and 800 volunteers along with health minister Dr C. Laxma Reddy and staff of the jails department cleaned the Osmania General Hospital as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on Sunday. The former prisoners took part under the banner of the jails’ Mahaparivarthan programme, in which they are trained to clean public areas. They were joined by OGH staff.
The open area outside the old OGH building and the area behind the Afzalgunj police station, which falls in the OGH compound, was cleaned up between 11.30 am and 1 pm. Much of the garbage was burnt at the site. Health officials were not satisfied. One said that the hospital corridors and the space near the buildings were not cleaned. Another said the volunteers did not explain to the patients’ attenders the need to keep the place clean.
Dr Laxma Reddy blamed the relatives of patients for dirtying the premises but did not dwell on how the hospital administration should keep the area clean.
