PALANPUR: In a daring daylight robbery, a five armed men attacked a vehicle of Banaskatha District Central Cooperative Bank (BDCB) and decamped after looting Rs 80 lakh cash near Ravigam Patiya about 40 km from Dhanera in Banaskatha on Friday. According to police, the robbers fired one round in the air and attacked the bank employees inside the vehicle with sticks.
Cashier Chelbhai Patel and peon Kirit Vyas were injured and rushed to Deesa civil hospital. The duo was heading for Bapla branch of the bank on Rajasthan border.
Superitdent of police Banaskatha, Chirag Koradia said, "After firing one round from the pistol they attacked the employees with the sticks and ran away with the cash." Tight security has been deployed at district check posts in the state as well as those bordering Rajasthan. tnn
He said that cash was being transported without any security and informing police.
