Pune Mayor requests CM not to reduce LBT

Pune, Jan 2 (UNI) City mayor Dattatraya Dhankawade today said that he has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis, urging him to not reduce the Local Body Bax (LBT) compensation to Pune
Municipal Corporation.
The ruling Nationalist Congress Party along with MNS, have also opposed the state government’s decision to cut the compensation to be paid to the civic body for its losses following the partial abolition of the LBT in the state.
Since September last year, The BJP-led state government has abolished LBT for traders with an annual turnover of less than Rs 50 crore.
It has promised to compensate civic bodies and had been paying PMC Rs 81 crore per months for the same.
However, in a recent notification, the state government said the compensation for PMC would be reduced by Rs 30 crore to meet the demands of other civic bodies for the next three months of the financial year.
This has not gone well with the elected representatives of PMC.
The elected representative have raised their concerns. This would have an adverse impact on implementation of the budget for the current financial year, said Dhankawake.
