Court dismisses Jani's application
Vadodara: An application filed by land broker Arvind Jani to quash a suit filed by Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) against him has been dismissed by the civil court. BCA had filed a suit against Jani for recovering Rs 8.22 crore after a deal to buy land at Sankarda failed.
BCA had paid nearly Rs 4.5 crore to Jani and has been making attempts to recover the money along with interest over last few years.

"Jani had approached the court last year and contended that BCA requires permission from the charity commissioner to file case against him. The court after hearing BCA, rejected Jani's application by saying that there was no substance in it. We will continue efforts to recover the dues from Jani," said Kamalkant Pandya, member of BCA's legal committee.
An application to grant permission for filing legal suits against BCA president, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, managing committee member, Chirayu Amin, former secretary Sanjay Patel and ex-vice president Rakesh Parikh has also been rejected by charity commissioner.
Two BCA members Ronak Patel and Vipul Patel had approached the charity commissioner and sought permission to file case for recovering the losses that BCA faced due to the failed Sankarda land deal. "The charity commissioner has ordered his assistant to inquire into the Sankarda land deal to ascertain the role of people involved in it," Pandya said.
