MC chief, 8 others held for assaut on toll plaza staff

Jhajjar police on Friday arrested the chairman of Sampla municipal committee and his eight friends who had allegedly thrashed the men on duty at a toll plaza on Bahadurgarh-New Delhi Road during late night hours of Thursday.

CHANDIGARH: Jhajjar police on Friday arrested the chairman of Sampla municipal committee and his eight friends who had allegedly thrashed the men on duty at a toll plaza on Bahadurgarh-New Delhi Road during late night hours of Thursday.
Besides the civic body chief Sudhir Auhliyan, others arrested by police include: Navin Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Ashish Singh, Satpal Singh, Kapil Kumar, Anil Kumar and Ganga Dhar.

A case of assault, rioting and intimidation was registered under sections 323, 427, 452, 148, 149 and 506 of the IPC against them at Bahadurgarh Sadar police station. The case was registered on the complaint of manager of the toll plaza Dinesh Kumar.
Bahadurgarh station house officer inspector Bijender Singh said that all the accused were produced before a local court which sent them to judicial custody. He said the police identified the accused based on the CCTV footage and registered a case after a complaint was lodged against them. Sudhir and his friends were going towards New Delhi on Thursday night. As their vehicles reached near toll plaza, the men on duty asked them to pay the road toll. It led to an argument between the two parties.
Following that Sudhir and his accomplices entered the toll collection room and allegedly thrashed the men on duty and damaged the systems installed there.
