Mani Ratnam’s breezy rom-com OK Kanmani will now have a Hindi remake. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, it will bring back the team of Saathiya (2002) – director Shaad Ali, composer AR Rahman and lyricist Gulzar.
The film will feature the Aashiqui 2 pair of Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, tweeted Johar. While the songs may be recreated in Hindi by Rahman and Gulzar, the setting is expected to stay the same: the city of Mumbai.
A story about two young lovers and their dilemmas in getting hitched, the Tamil film featured actors Nithya Menon and Dulquer Salman. Ali, Ratnam’s protégé, has earlier made films such as Bunty aur Babli , Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Kill Dil .
