Antagarh: Mahant asks AICC to act

Korba, Chhattisgarh, Jan 1 (UNI) Congress leader and former Union minister Charan Das Mahant today urged the All India Congress Committee to take an immediate decision in the context of the audio tape vis-à-vis the controversial Antagarh Assembly by-election.
“Whatever happened in the by-poll is saddening. We are at a juncture when Nelson’s eye cannot be turned to such incidents. Minute introspection should take place especially in states where the Congress lost elections. Chief Minister Raman Singh assassinated democracy and the Antagarh by-poll is the latest instance of this. The Election Commission ought to order an inquiry. Besides, the Central Bureau of Investigation should probe Dr Singh’s involvement,” he told media here.
Targeting a certain public sector undertaking, Dr Mahant said that it has become an ‘assistant’ for the saffron party and that is why the government, the Chief Minister and the members of his Council support the PSU whose officials are domineering. He expressed concern over ceaseless retrenchment of that PSU’s labourers as trade unions are divided.
