Woman booked for duping banks of Rs19.86 lakh
Nagpur: Kalpana Lokhande has been charged with cheating and criminal breach of trust by Sadar police on Thursday. This followed a complaint lodged by representatives of Union Bank of India. The woman is learnt to have duped three banks of Rs19.86 lakh on the pretext of purchasing a BMW car.
It’s learnt that Kalpana, a resident of Raghuji Nagar, had approached three institutions, Union Bank of India’s Katol Road branch, Bank of India’s Gandhibagh branch and Vijaya Bank, for a car loan in 2013.
She was sanctioned loans by the three institutions simultaneously. Kalpana is learnt to have given three DDs to a dealer of BMW car initially, but later withdrawn two of them to encash the amount for herself.
The banks approached the police to register an offence after the fraud came to fore.
