The boys of AIB, Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi, G Khamba and Ashish Shakya, have come a long way. From being stand-ups telling jokes in bars to hobnobbing with the who’s who of Bollywood, pissing off the moral police, and making Aamir Khan see red before it became mainstream.

Now the ultimate bad boys of comedy have decided to help out others by introducing a six-month residency workshop for writers. The project is set to be headed by Satyanshu Singh, a National Award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and professor of cinema.  Others who will be involved are Varun Grover, Juhi Chaturvedi, Akshat Verma and Umesh Kulkarni.

Explaining why they were doing it, they wrote on their website: “We’ve always wanted to start a school – this is a first step towards it. We get to meet and groom a whole bunch of awesome writers and in our very small way, give back to the creative industry. And we have the potential to produce great content. It’s a win-win situation.”
