P.T. Parameshwar Naik, Minister of State for Labour, urged BJP Leader of the Opposition K.S. Eshwarappa to stand by his statement of taking ‘political sanyas’.

Mr. Naik on Wednesday recalled the reported statement of Mr. Eshwarappa that he would take political sanyas if the Congress won one seat more than the BJP.

“With the Congress already winning more number of seats, I hope Mr. Eshwarappa would definitely do what he has said with regard to taking ‘political sanyas’,” he said.

While thanking the voters for supporting the Congress, Mr. Naik said it clearly indicated that the elected representatives of the local bodies were impressed by State government’s efforts to strengthen the Panchayat Raj system.
