Bajoriya wins MLC poll from Akola
Akola: Gopikisan Bajoriya, sitting Shiv Sena MLC, who was the SS-BJP alliance’s official nominee, has won the MLC polls from Akola-Washim and Buldhana district local bodies and ZP constituency for the third consecutive time. Bajoriya won by a record margin of 274 votes against his lone rival Ravindra Sapkal, Cong-NCP candidate, official sources said on Wednesday.
There were total 791 voters in the poll, and 786 voters exercised their franchise. Bajoriya got 513 votes whereas his lone rival Ravindra Sapkal obtained only 239 votes. The number of invalid votes was 29, whereas five votes were polled for ‘none of the above’ (NOTA). Bajoriya won the election in the first round of counting in the preferential voting system. He got the highest number of votes in Maharashtra.
