Police are on the lookout for the ruling party worker K.S.P.Ramesh who has been absconding ever since a case was booked against him in connection with alleged sexual assault of a minor girl.

On December 6, the police had booked a case against the accused, who was also chairman of Puducherry Planning Authority (PPA), on the charge of sexually assaulting a girl, of class IX in a school run by him at Thattanchavady.

Inspector General of Police Praveer Ranjan on December 16 transferred the case against Ramesh to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) for investigation.

A senior official in CB-CID told The Hindu , “We have constituted a special team to nab the accused in the case and are also monitoring his and relatives’ residences. We will soon arrest him,”

However, the sources in the CB-CID added the accused can be arrested based on the statement recorded earlier.
