5-member team to probe into PHE irregularities

Bhopal, Dec 29 (UNI) A five-member team has been formed by Collector Illayaraja T to inquire into the alleged irregularities in digging of hand pumps by the Public Health Engineering Department in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district in the past five years.
The team, headed by Bhind Sub-Divisional Magistrate BB Agnihotri, will inspect hand pumps dug in the past five years and ascertain whether hand pumps actually existed and their working condition. The team would submit its report in the next 10 days.
In a recent meeting of the district planning committee, Bhind legislator Narendra Singh Kushwaha and Lahar legislator Govind Singh raised the matter of alleged irregularities to the tune of Rs 49 crore in the PHE Department in Bhind before incharge Minister Maya Singh. Both demanded a probe into the matter by an independent agency. Ms Singh had assured of a probe and to write to the PHE Minister in this regard.
