Noted poet and folk singer Goreti Venkanna was honoured with Muvva Padmavathi Rangaiah Award at an impressive ceremony held at Bhakta Ramadasu Kala Kshetram in the town late on Sunday evening.

He received the award from Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Nageswara Rao.

Telangana Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana, Telangana State Public Service Commission Chairman Ghanta Chakrapani, senior journalist Telkapalli Ravi, and others were present.

Release of new books penned by noted literary personalities and journalists marked the occasion.

The speakers heaped praises on Mr. Venkanna for spearheading a spirited cultural campaign to promote the glorious folk art forms of Telangana.
