Check spurious liquor: LSP

December 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 12:44 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

Three days ahead of the turn of the calendar, which will be marked by New Year’s Eve bash, the Lok Satta Party has appealed to the excise department to check for spurious liquor.

Party’s district president K. Balasubramanyam, while submitting a representation to the Prohibition and Excise (Tirupati Urban) circle inspector Indira, cautioned that the city had a dubious track record of selling crores of rupees worth of liquor during the year-end, while several cartons of spurious liquor had been ferried to the city in the past, especially for the event. “While liquor consumption is a vital part of New Year parties, there will also be heavy rush in lodges and hotels, as visitors throng the city for the year-end”, he said.
