Denilson may never have fulfilled his full potential during his professional career, but the Brazilian always had a penchant for the spectacular.
Though his international exploits made him something of a legend in his home country (he's a World Cup winner, after all), his club career was less impressive. After Real Betis signed the nippy winger from Sao Paulo for a world-record £20,000,000 back in 1998, he became famous for sublime stepovers and skills. Unfortunately, his lack of end product made him seem like a talented showboater more than anything else.
Still, he clearly doesn't mind his reputation as a supreme trickster. In fact, he's still living up to it with aplomb - this video is proof.
Playing in a recent charity match, the retired 38-year-old has humiliated an opponent with a truly ridiculous nutmeg. As you can see above, it's a trick which takes some serious cojones.
As he's closed down on the edge of the box, Denilson bamboozles his would-be tackler with an astounding dragback before flicking the ball nonchalantly between his legs. Cue much applause, cheering and laughter from the crowd.
