Two school students drown in Puzhal lake

Two Plus Two students drowned in Puzhal Lake after they slipped and fell into it on Sunday.

G. Sujith of Varadarajapuram in Ambattur and S. Mukesh of VOC Street, Ambattur, both students of a private school, were walking along with a group of friends on the pipelines near Bhanu Nagar when they fell into the sprawling lake, one of the major drinking water sources for the city.

On hearing the cries for help by the rest of the children, residents rushed to the spot. They also informed the control room of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department. Firemen retrieved the bodies of the two boys later in the evening, which were taken to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Ambattur police have registered a case and are investigating.
