Married woman, paramour end life in Churu

JAIPUR: A 30-year-old married woman and her paramour ended their lives by jumping into a well in Churu's Sardarshahar area. They were apparently depressed over their family members' disapproval of their relationship. The man called up his father early on Saturday telling him that he was ending his life. Their bodies were found floating in a well a few hours later.The couple had been missing from their homes for the past few days.
According to the police, the incident took place at Jaitasar village near Sardarshahar. The deceased were identified as Nirmala Meghwal and Santalal Nayak (22). "Santlal and Nirmla were neighbours. The woman had come to her parents' house some time ago. Santlal had left his home on his bike on December 22 and was missing since then. The family members realized that he had eloped with Nirmala, when she was also found missing," said a police officer.
The police officials said that the family members didn't register a missing person's complaint with the local police station. "Santlal called up his father around 2.30 am on Saturday and told him that he was ending his life," said the officer.
The officer added that the family members launched a search and spotted Santlal's cellphone and some other things lying near the well situated on the agriculture farm belonging to Nirmala's family.
"On seeing their bodies in the well, they informed the police. A team was immediately rushed to the spot. We found bus tickets for Indore and Bhilwara. We suspect that the couple spent a few days at the two places and then decided to commit suicide," said the officer.
Nirmala had two children, while Santlal was unmarried. "We have got a post-mortem of the bodies conducted. The statements of the family members are being recorded. Prima-facie, it seems that the couple was in a relationship and decided to end their lives due to the family members' opposition," said the officer.
