Burglars strike at a locked house

Unidentified persons broke into the locked house of retired professor Bala Singh (69) of Pudhu Gramam in Therur near Suchindram on Friday night.

The theft came to light when Mr. Balasingh returned home after visiting his son in Nagercoil along with his wife.

He was shocked to see his house broken open. The thieves had taken away 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 15,000 cash.

Forensic experts lifted finger prints from the scene of crime.

Suchindram police have registered a case and are investigating.

Similarly, a few unidentified persons gained entry into the residence of Gnanaraj (42) of Haridoss Colony near Colachel on Friday when he was fast asleep. The theft came to light when Gnanaraj’s wife and children returned from a short picnic to a nearby seashore on Friday.

Thieves had decamped with 10.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments.

Based on a complaint, Colachel police have registered a case and are investigating.
