Chettinad scions fight over sedans

Kumararani Meena Muthiah, Ramasamy’s late brother’s wife, has approached police alleging that locks of the car sheds in her premises were broken. The sheds had been locked with fresh locks by personal drivers of MAMR Muthiah, managing director, Chettinad group, and being guarded by private security personnel.

In a complaint to Foreshore Estate police, Meena Muthiah had named the persons who reached her premises and locked up the car sheds in which Ramaswamy’s two cars are parked now. She said breaking open the locks and locking the sheds with new locks was carried out based on instructions from MAMR Muthiah, also known as Ayyappan. She said the entire act of trespassing was captured in surveillance cameras and the clips were handed over to police.

She said all the movable and immovable property of MAM Ramaswamy are now under the control of ‘Dr. MAM Ramasamy Chettiar of Chettinad Charitable Trust’, in which she is an executive. When contacted, MAMR Muthiah said he was not aware of such a development inside Chettinad house. “Nobody told me about the incident of breaking locks and also about the police complaint,” he told this newspaper.
